Healthcare is the source of huge amounts of waste, which is increasingly being viewed as not just a fact of life but a situation that something can be, indeed must be, done about.
Single use disposable examination gloves can represent as much as 30% of such waste and amounts to hundreds of thousands of tons a year. It should all be incinerated but much of it also finds its way into landfill. In either case it is a source of pollution and a generator of greenhouse gases that adversely affect the environment. EcoGlove changes all that. Its gloves can be used multiple times, meaning the volume of newly manufactured gloves is reduced by about 75%. The need for the materials used to make them, either naturally grown rubber or oil-based synthetic, is reduced by the same amount. Long range transportation is also dramatically reduced. It also takes much less energy to recondition a glove in the EcoGlove way than manufacture a new one. So EcoGlove passes reduce and reuse with flying colors. But there is more. When EcoGlove's Tr@ace gloves reach the end of their prescribed life, or have been rejected for quality defects - mainly pinholes and stains - they have already gone through the full GURU reconditioning process and are shredded as clean waste. From here they go to rubber recycling projects were they end up as shoe soles, floor tiles and a variety of other products. So reduce, reuse and recycle are fundamental to EcoGlove's business concept and ethic. No other glove suppler is able to claim the same! {backbutton} |
